Halloween has come and also it’s traditions that vary by geographical region. For instance, if you live in Austria, you would probably leave some bread and water for the departed souls. Ireland, the place where Halloween is said to originate from, celebrates Halloween in spectacular style. In the United States, carved pumpkins peer out from porches and doorsteps. Gourd-like orange fruits inscribed with ghoulish faces and illuminated by candles are a sure sign of the Halloween season for many parts of the world. In Greece, Halloween is not a well known feast where houses are open to “tricks or threats” but it is seems like a opportunity to be creative in a different way.
The Greek jewelry designer who has also been involved with music, Valia Plaini, urge us to get in the spirit of this feast and decorate our houses or our necks with the most creative pumpkins.
“Once upon a pumpkin…” and the story goes on with the designer proposing the most inspired versions of pumpkins. Her designs have a double role – one for the home and the other for the neck- and they are available in warm fall hues, such as dark pink, blue, orange, red, purple, green.
The reason that her creations attracted my attention at first sight was that her pumpkins- made in velvet and gold plated brazen- are like the actual ones with a luxury twist.
Either you celebrate that day or not, I hope these pieces will help you remember this year’s Halloween feast as a memorable one!
