The Sparklet as a media sponsor @ A Jewel Made in Greece 2018

February 19, 2018

Following 4 years of continuous success with various notable “milestones”, the realizable vision of the jewellery designer Mary Samolis, A Jewel Made in Greece, returns for the 5th Annual Designer’s meeting to the magnificent and from now on permanent venue, the Zappeion Megaron, during 23-26 February 2018.

This year, The Sparklet will be transformed from an admirer, follower of the platform and visitor of the event to a media sponsor of this celebration that aims to inspire but also promote modern Greek jewellery as well as support and highlight the uniqueness of each creator and their designs.

All visitors will have the chance to meet close up with 65 Greek and foreign designers who will welcome them to the magic of Greek jewellery but also guide them in a sensual journey of “sight and touch” which keeps the dialogue with the long history of Greek jewellery alive. Additionally, they will experience an impressive panorama of contemporary artistic creations and jewels through the following themes: Precious Eternities, Solid Metals and Material Worlds. Gold, silver, precious stones, imaginative designs, forms and colours will compose all artists’ jewellery that cover every different contemporary trend.

In parallel to the exhibition, photos of the exhibits will be accompanied with commentaries from distinguished personalities such as Iris Kritikou (AJMIG Art History Consultant) and jewelry journalist Katerina Perez (responsible for this year’s international exhibits). On the inauguration day, short speeches about the modern Greek jewel and its prospects will take place while Zolotas House will be honored for its overall contribution as well as the vision of the founder of the House to revive ancient Greek silversmith techniques. On the same day, the establishment of the Museum of Modern Greek Jewellery will be announced with a focus on the history of jewellery in our country from the beginning of 1900’s till today while all visitors will have the opportunity to watch the dance performance “Movements by Movements” produced by Christina Brikman and Alice Dikaiou, inspired by the film “The Dark Swan” by director Darren Aronofsky. Last but not least, the well known gemologist George Spyromelios will also introduce and unfold the secrets of diamonds.
